Lake Rules & Fishing Regulations

Please read our Regulations and Code of Conduct carefully and ensure that you comply with them.

General Rules

The angler is obliged to protect the water quality and the environment, keep their fishing spot clean, and take all rubbish away upon departure.

Fishing is permitted all year round during opening hours, subject to prior booking.

The angler acknowledges that upon arrival and departure they are required to present their bags and fishing equipment to the lake management staff. If they refuse to do so, we will not permit them to fish. This requirement also applies to all persons accompanying the angler.

Fishing is permitted only in accordance with the prices and conditions published on the website. The angler is responsible for all accompanying persons and visitors, who are also subject to these rules and may enter and remain on the lake premises only with the permission of the fishery bailiff.

Fishing is permitted only from the designated fishing swims. The unnecessary cutting, clearing, or damaging of vegetation is strictly prohibited.

Adult anglers may fish with a maximum of 3 rods, each equipped with one hook only. Children and junior anglers may use one rod equipped with a maximum of one hook.

Open fires are permitted only in designated fire pits. During an official fire ban, lighting a fire is strictly prohibited.

Tents may only be erected in designated areas.

Swimming in the lake and drinking the lake water are strictly prohibited.

Cars, motorcycles, mopeds, and bicycles may only be parked in designated parking areas. Access to the lakeside with any of the above-mentioned vehicles is permitted only with prior authorization.

Excessive alcohol consumption, drug use, loud behaviour, or disturbing other anglers may result in immediate expulsion from the premises.

By purchasing a fishing permit, the angler acknowledges and accepts these rules as binding. Matters not regulated by these Fishing Regulations shall be governed by the provisions of Act CII of 2013 on Fisheries Management and the Protection of Fish. Any person violating these Fishing Regulations may be permanently banned from the lake, and law enforcement authorities may be involved if necessary.

Please refrain from playing loud music or shouting.

All visitors are required to report their arrival and intentions at the fishery office.

Somlóhegyi Fishing Lake – Fishing Regulations and Community Rules

Introduction

Somlóhegyi Fishing Lake is a unique premium quarry lake with exceptional water quality and a healthy, strong fish stock.

This is not a mass-fishing venue.

It is a peaceful, premium environment for those who understand and respect its values.

The purpose of these regulations is not to impose restrictions, but to ensure that this unique experience remains available for everyone in the long term.

1. Fundamental Principle – Full Catch & Release. Taking Fish Away Is Strictly PROHIBITED!

Fish caught in the lake must not be removed from the premises.

All fish must be returned to the water.

Fish must always be handled with the utmost care.

Any attempt to remove fish from the lake will result in immediate and permanent exclusion.

2. Fishing Rules

At one fishing swim:

1. Maximum 2 anglers
2. Each angler may fish with up to 3 rods

Accompanying guests:

1. Maximum 2 persons per swim

Additional guests:

1. Prior approval is required.

3. Responsibility

The person renting the fishing swim is responsible for:

1. the behaviour of all accompanying persons;
2. informing them about these regulations;
3. ensuring that all rules are observed.

Failure to do so, or disputing these rules, may result in the immediate termination of the fishing session.

Children

Children must be supervised at all times.

The person renting the fishing swim bears full responsibility for them.

4. Schedule

Arrival and departure must follow the confirmed booking.

On the final day, fishing must end by the designated departure time.

5. Mandatory Equipment

1. Large, fine-mesh landing net
2. Carp unhooking mat or cradle
3. Weigh sling
4. Fish antiseptic

If any of the above equipment is missing, fishing may not begin.

A minimum 100 cm carp cradle with legs and a minimum 100 cm floating weigh sling with a secure closure are mandatory. A large, fine-mesh carp landing net, fish antiseptic, and a hook remover are also compulsory.

6. Tackle Regulations

Braided main line: PROHIBITED

Required:

1. Monofilament or fluorocarbon main line

Hooks:

1. Barbless or micro-barbed hooks only

Required:

1. Safety lead-release rig

To protect the fish, only size 4–6 barbless or micro-barbed hooks may be used. Treble hooks are strictly prohibited.

Only rigs that allow the lead to discharge freely in the event of a breakage may be used. It is prohibited to tie swivels, knots, rings, or clips behind the lead.

The use of braided line and leadcore leaders is prohibited throughout the entire year, including as casting leaders. Braided line may only be used as a hook link.

7. Baiting and Baits

Particle bait: permitted only with boiled maize purchased on site.

Pellets: permitted.

Boilies: permitted.

Baiting or fishing with dog food is strictly prohibited.

Only the amount of bait normally used during fishing sessions may be introduced into the water. Baits specifically developed for carp fishing are permitted. The use of bait boats for baiting and bait placement is allowed.

Long-term pre-baiting or conditioning the fish with feed is prohibited throughout the entire year. The use of so-called "DOG FOOD" for both baiting and hook bait is strictly prohibited.

The following may not be used for baiting or fishing:

1. Food leftovers
2. Non-fishing feed or bait

8. Fish Handling Protocol

For every fish caught:

1. Place the fish on an unhooking mat or in a cradle
2. Remove the hook
3. Disinfect any wounds
4. Check for a microchip
5. Weigh the fish
6. Take photographs
7. Return the fish safely to the water

To avoid injuring the fish, it must be returned to the water immediately using an unhooking mat or weigh sling. Fishing may not continue until the angler has confirmed that the fish has safely swum away.

If a fish dies due to the angler's negligence, the angler shall be liable to compensate for the value of the fish.

Photographs may only be taken while kneeling or squatting, holding the fish above the unhooking mat or cradle. Holding a fish while standing is strictly prohibited.

Fish Handling Time Limits

1. Maximum time out of the water: 15–20 minutes
2. The fish must always remain on a wet surface and be continuously kept wet.

Please handle every fish with the utmost care.

Marking fish is strictly prohibited.

9. Mandatory Reporting

The following must be reported immediately to the fishery bailiff:

1. Fish weighing over 20 kg
2. Any fish without a microchip
3. Any injured fish (photograph + report required)

10. Returning Fish

Fish must always be released:

1. By hand
2. While still in the water

Throwing or sliding fish back into the lake is strictly prohibited.

STURGEON – SPECIAL RULE

The following is mandatory:

1. "Pumping" the fish in the water
2. Ensuring water flows through the gills
3. Supporting the fish until it has fully recovered

Failure to do so is considered a serious violation of the regulations.

11. Playing the Fish

1. Play fish patiently.
2. Excessive force is prohibited.
3. Playing fish from a boat is recommended.

12. Bait Boats and Bait Placement

1. Permitted.
2. Respect for neighbouring fishing zones is mandatory.

13. Predator Fishing

Predator fishing is permitted only by lure fishing (spinning).

Live bait: prohibited.

Dead bait (fish strips): prohibited.

Fishing with live fish or fish strips is strictly prohibited. Predator fishing is allowed only by spinning methods.

When spinning, the use of a landing net and an unhooking mat is mandatory. Fish grips are not permitted. A spinning permit cannot be combined with any other fishing permit.

Only single hooks may be used on lures. For example, larger wobblers must also be modified so that they are fitted with single hooks only.

14. Boat Use

1. Alcohol is strictly prohibited.
2. Wearing a life jacket is mandatory.

15. Night Fishing

1. Keep lighting to a minimum.
2. The use of a headlamp is recommended.

16. Respecting Fellow Anglers

1. Do not cast across another angler's water.
2. Do not bait into another angler's area.
3. Do not disturb other anglers.

17. Alcohol and Behaviour

Moderate alcohol consumption is permitted.

Loud, disruptive, or aggressive behaviour is not permitted.

In such cases, the fishing session may be terminated immediately.

18. Environmental Protection

1. Damaging vegetation is prohibited.
2. Water lilies are protected.
3. Littering is prohibited.
4. Throwing any objects into the lake is prohibited.

19. Open Fires

1. Fires may only be lit in designated fire pits.
2. Fires should be kept only as large as necessary.

20. Safety

1. Swimming is prohibited.
2. If someone falls into the water, the fishery bailiff must be notified immediately.
3. Any unusual incident must be reported.

21. Incidents

The following must be reported immediately:

1. Repeated tackle snags
2. Injured fish
3. Any violation of the regulations

22. Code of Conduct

The Somlóhegyi Fishing Lake Code of Conduct forms an integral part of these Fishing Regulations.

The two documents are valid and applicable together.

23. Sanctions

In the event of a breach of these regulations, the following measures may be taken:

1. Warning
2. Immediate termination of the fishing session
3. Removal from the premises
4. Exclusion without refund
5. Permanent ban in serious cases

Serious violations of fish welfare regulations may result in immediate and permanent exclusion.

DECLARATION OF ACCEPTANCE

By booking and paying for a fishing swim, I declare that I have read, understood, and accepted the Somlóhegyi Fishing Lake Fishing Regulations and Code of Conduct, and I agree to be bound by them.

I undertake to inform all persons accompanying me about these regulations and accept full responsibility for their behaviour.

I acknowledge that if these regulations are violated, the operator is entitled to terminate my fishing session immediately, require me to leave the premises, and, in serious cases, permanently exclude me without any refund.

By accepting these regulations, I expressly accept all consequences and sanctions arising from them.

Somlóhegyi Fishing Lake Community Code of Conduct

Introduction

Somlóhegyi Fishing Lake is a place where silence, nature, and people exist in harmony.

This balance does not exist by itself—it is maintained by everyone who comes here.

This Code is not simply a collection of rules, but a shared agreement on how we treat one another, nature, and this special place.

Anyone who enters becomes part of this community.

1. Preserving the Silence

Silence is valued here.

We therefore strive to:

1. Avoid creating unnecessary noise.
2. Avoid using loud devices.
3. Avoid disturbing the peace of others.

The sounds of nature always take priority.

2. Respect for Others

Everyone comes here to relax.

Therefore:

1. We do not disturb one another.
2. We do not force conversations upon others.
3. We respect each other's personal space.

If someone wishes to socialise, they will let you know.

3. Clean and Orderly Surroundings

Cleanliness is everyone's responsibility.

Therefore:

1. We do not litter.
2. We do not leave behind even the smallest piece of rubbish.
3. We keep our own area clean and tidy at all times.

We leave the place exactly as we would like the next guest to find it.

4. Respect for Nature

This place is special because it remains natural.

Therefore:

1. We do not damage vegetation.
2. We do not cut or break plants.
3. We do not interfere with nature unnecessarily.

We do not exploit nature—we respect it.

5. Respect for Fish

Fish are living creatures.

Therefore:

1. We handle them with care.
2. We strive to avoid causing any injury.
3. We minimise stress as much as possible.

The fish was caught for our enjoyment—it deserves our respect.

6. Harmony Among Anglers

Peace begins with respecting boundaries.

Therefore:

1. Everyone fishes within their own designated area.
2. We do not interfere with another angler's fishing.
3. We remain considerate of others while playing fish.

7. Use of Shared Facilities

Comfort is a shared value.

Therefore:

1. We use the provided toilets.
2. We keep them clean.
3. We do not use nature for such purposes.

8. Animals

Bringing animals carries responsibility.

Dogs:

1. May only be brought with prior approval.
2. Must be kept on a leash at all times.
3. Must not disturb other guests.
4. Their waste must be removed immediately.
5. Continuous barking is not permitted.

Only animals that can be kept under full control may remain on the premises.

9. Conflict Resolution

Our goal is to preserve peace.

Therefore:

1. We do not argue with one another.
2. Any problems should be reported to the management.
3. We help each other preserve the spirit of this place.

DECLARATION OF ACCEPTANCE

I acknowledge that by entering the premises of Somlóhegyi Fishing Lake, I accept the principles set out in the Somlóhegyi Silence and Respect Code as binding upon me.

I undertake to contribute to preserving the silence, cleanliness, and mutual respect of this place, and I expect the same from others.

I acknowledge that if I violate this Code, the operator is entitled to restrict or terminate my stay on the premises.

Visitor Regulations

Somlóhegyi Fishing Lake is a peaceful, nature-oriented, premium destination designed primarily for relaxation, recreation, and an exceptional fishing experience.

The lake may be visited by everyone in accordance with the applicable local regulations. However, maintaining order, silence, and tranquillity is the shared responsibility of everyone on the premises.

By entering the premises, visitors acknowledge that their presence must be respectful of the guests already staying at the lake and the spirit of this special place.

1. Visiting the Lake

The lake may only be visited on foot and only along the designated walking path.

Leaving the designated path is strictly prohibited.

The lake can be comfortably walked around; therefore, visits are intended only for short stays.

Maximum visit duration: 30 minutes

2. Opening Hours and Visitor Numbers

Visiting hours:

09:00 – 17:00

Maximum number of visitors on the premises at one time:

10 persons

Groups larger than 10 people are considered organised groups and are permitted only with prior approval.

3. Behaviour and Silence

The primary value of this place is its tranquillity.

Therefore:

1. Visitors must communicate in a normal speaking voice.
2. Shouting, loud behaviour, and unnecessary noise are prohibited.
3. Playing music through electronic devices or loudspeakers is prohibited.

The purpose of a visit is to enjoy and observe the surroundings, not to disturb them.

Children

The accompanying adult is fully responsible for the behaviour of children.

The accompanying adult must ensure that the child:

1. does not disturb the relaxation of other guests;
2. understands and respects the peaceful nature of the venue.

4. Use of the Premises

Visitors:

1. may not use the fishing swims;
2. may not use the lake's facilities or infrastructure;
3. may not disturb anglers.

Visits are limited exclusively to walking and short-term stays.

5. Prohibited Activities

The following are strictly prohibited:

1. Swimming
2. Throwing any object into the lake
3. Littering, even the smallest items
4. (e.g. cigarette butts, sunflower seed shells, pumpkin seed shells)
5. Damaging vegetation
6. Damaging reeds or water lilies
7. Any activity causing environmental damage

6. Animals

Bringing live animals onto the premises is strictly prohibited.

The lake is not a dog-walking area but a place dedicated to relaxation.

7. Alcohol, Drugs and Behaviour

Only persons who:

1. are not under the influence of alcohol or any mind-altering substance;
2. do not pose a danger to themselves or others;

may remain on the premises.

The operator reserves the right to verify compliance with this requirement.

8. Compliance and Cooperation

Visitors are required to:

1. cooperate with the operator;
2. comply with these regulations;
3. avoid disturbing other visitors and anglers.

9. Sanctions

Violation of these regulations may result in:

1. immediate removal from the premises;
2. permanent exclusion in serious cases.

Serious violations include, but are not limited to:

1. littering;
2. loud or disruptive behaviour;
3. environmental damage;
4. deliberate violation of these regulations.

10. Code of Conduct

The Somlóhegyi Fishing Lake Code of Conduct forms an integral part of these Visitor Regulations.

By entering the premises, visitors also accept and agree to comply with its principles.

I acknowledge that if I violate these regulations, the operator is entitled to require me to leave the premises immediately and, in serious cases, permanently prohibit any future visits.
